It is a tragedy that young ambitious Chinese students get tarred by the same brush. The responsibility for that lies with Beijing and the Chinese Communist Party. To be able to engage with them on a fair and secure basis will require the West to invest in understanding China, her customs, language and history much more to be alive to the triggers and risks. The UK has a dearth of people who understand China at all and is wary of those who do. A sea change in the UK education and Government is needed- perhaps some of this could be funded by the private sector- persuading the idiot Education secretary to reverse her plans and encourage private investment in strategic languages and skills as a start?

The fact that people want to live in the US and be US citizens is THE superpower the country has. Any action that threatens it is base stupidity.
